2011 BMW X5 M Overview
The 2011 BMW X5 M acquires an elite engine. Its twin-turbo V8 creates 555 hp and 501 pound-feet of torque, which is sufficient to start on all 5,300 of its pounds from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. BMW’s M-badged SUVs are amazingly speedy, and laying into
the X5 M’s accelerator will have you at further speeds in no time. The X5 comes in xDrive35i and xDrive50i trims, both with fresh engines.
The xDrive35i employs a latest turbocharged six-cylinder that makes 300 hp and 300 pounds-feet of torque. BMW made additional changes to make the X5 M feel more like a sport sedan. With standard 20” wheels and performance tires and special sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers that delivers remarkable handling ability while at the same time maintaining a habitable trip.
The X5′s interior carries on mostly unchanged. The dash places a large screen atop the central air vents, with navigation and other interfaces inside. It’s controlled by BMW’s latest-generation iDrive system, whose knob controller now has a variety of shortcut keys surrounding it for user-friendliness. The automatic transmission continues to use a console-mounted electronic shifter.
The 2011 X5 M comes standard with stability control, front side airbags, ABS with brake assist, front active head restraints and rear side curtain airbags. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave
the X5 the maximum rating of Good in its frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests. Crash tests have not been accomplished, but the structurally equal BMW X5 scored a great five stars in government crash tests for frontal-impact driver protection, four stars for frontal-impact passenger protection and five stars for front and rear side protection.
The standard fog lights have been moved inboard, and the grille and tail carry more body-colored elements. The hood and grille are carry-over, but the plastic front fenders now get together a full-width and painted front bumper skin containing bigger apertures and a scuff-plate-look metallic lower trim piece. New headlamps feature LED rings and the fog lamps are set superior and more inboard.
