Ford WT Fiesta Review
In the move from Germany to Thailand, the small car has had a big increase in noise reduction – a factor of concern in the previous model. It gets substantial underbody sound dampening that, combined with improvements to the suspension, give the Fiesta a level of ride and comfort above its class. The engine line up is an 88kW/151Nm 1.6-litre petrol and 66kW/200Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel rated at 6.1 litres/100km and 4.4 l/100km respectively. The six-speed dual-clutch automati
c is only available in the petrol models. Ford says “we’re working on’’ an auto-diesel combo but there’s a lot of resistance from the drivetrain suppliers in Europe. Ford won’t talk sales numbers with the new Fiesta. But is expects a healthy rise in interest.Refinement is a word used to describe gentlemen’s etiquette, not usually light-car handling and ride comfort. Yet the Ford Fiesta manages to add the word to its vocabulary. And it did it on a day that would possibly be the worst in Adelaide’s 2010 calendar. Ford F-650 and Ford F-750
Ford F-650 and Ford F-750 conventional-cab trucks include new interiors similar to those installed in 2011-model SuperDuty pickups and cab-chassis models. The interiors are more nice-looking and beautiful and include a new gauge package, new panels and cloth, and “SuperDuty” embossed on the padded dashboard. The trucks continue as products of the Ford-Navistar Blue Diamond joint venture with vehicles built in Escobedo, Mexico, mostly using Ford cabs and Cummins engines on International chassis.
2010-specification versions of the 6.7-liter Cummins ISB, the sole engine offered, were installed starting in April; they use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with equipment hung on the main frame or packaged in wrap-around style under cabs, right side. A variety of drivetrain components, including high-capacity front and single rear axles that take GVW ratings as high as “37,000 pounds” are available. A tandem-axle option might come after the market fully revives and money can be freed to engineer in not just the axles but a bigger diesel (most likely the Cummins ISC and/or ISL) to move heavier loads. As in previous years, buyers can choose a two-door Regular or four-door Super and Crew cabs, all from the higher volume SuperDuty pickups.
