The Toyota Matrix based on the now Corolla platform is a compact hatchback with all-new interior. The Toyota Matrix base model arrives with the 1.8liter DOHC 16-valve dual independent VVT-i 4-cylinder engine that generates 132 hp at 6000 rpm and 128lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. The Matrix gets 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with the five-speed manual and 25mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway with the four-speed automatic.
The Toyota Matrix S and Matrix XRS appears with the 2.4Liter DOHC 16-valve VVT-i 4-cylinder engine that generates 158 hp, 26 hp over the 1.8L engine and an additional 34 lb-ft of torque.
